Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am empaneled with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health New England, Tufts, and Medicare. I encourage potential clients to check with their insurance to make sure that I am in network.

How much does therapy with you cost?

For those who have one of the insurances I take, generally you will only need to pay your copay [check your insurance card!] if you have one. The exception can be if you have a deductible, which is the amount the insurance company requires you to pay before they start paying. Sometimes therapy is a part of that deductible and sometimes it is not. It’s best to check with your insurance company.

For clients who are paying out of pocket, I charge $120 for 45-50 minute sessions. I am happy to speak with potential clients about a sliding scale fee.

Are you the right therapist for me?

I don’t know, but I’m happy to find out! Therapy is at its best when there is a positive and satisfying therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist. The best way to find out if we’re a good fit is to invest the time to have several sessions to test it out. It’s also important that there is an overlap between your struggles and my experience/expertise; I will always be honest with potential clients if I feel that my skills and their needs don’t line up.

What's your therapy orientation?

I am a graduate of the Smith College School for Social Work program where I was immersed in psychodynamic theory and practice. After graduation I continued to explore theories of psychotherapy and found an interest in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT] and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy [DBT]. Quite often I find myself helping clients with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy [ACT], in which I am also trained. ACT is a evidence-based model of therapy that strives to help clients be mindfully present with their pain while building paths to a more meaningful, vibrant life. There is good evidence that ACT can effectively address mood concerns, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, and even schizophrenia.

Can I see you in person?

For the foreseeable future I am only providing services via telehealth. The platform I use, Simple Practice, is HIPAA-compliant, completely secure, and very easy to use. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they have privacy on their end of the call.
